A multi-hazard risk assessment of the surrounding area was part of the planning process to make sure the plan was completely risk informed. And priority investment possibilities were also identified during the planning process, which will support the township's resilience and economic growth.

 

The Malekula Island - Resilient Investment and Development Opportunities and the Lakatoro Concept Plan were officially launched and hand over to the vice present of the Malampa Provincial Council by Mr. Alick Terry First PA on behalf of the MOIA caretaker Minister.

 

Mr. Terry appeals to the people of Malapma to work collaboratively as one and support each other to develop Malampa Province in the coming years through the implementation of the plans outlined in these two documents.

 

Director of DUAP, Mr. Jeffrey Kaitip proudly stated that these two documents is an important step forward for the government vision of Decentralization that the MOIA agencies were working hard to implement. Also emphasize that these development plans will help the economic growth of Malapma province.

 

With this officially launching Ministry of Internal Affairs wishes to acknowledge the work and positive collaboration of DUAP, SPC, World Bank and the provincial officials including Civil Society Group, Community Leaders, Women and Youth and People with special needs for their contribution to these to plan documents.
